Kian Jazdi ist Musiker und Kulturmanager und lebt in Hamburg.

Er hat sich darauf spezialisiert, professionelle und nicht-professionelle Künstler:innen in interdisziplinären Projekten zu verbinden und setzt dies in groß angelegten Bühnenproduktionen um. Gemeinsam mit Julian Prégardien ist er außerdem künstlerischer Co-Leiter und Mitgründer des Liedstadt Festivals, das im Herbst 2026 zum zweiten Mal für 14 Tage in Hamburg stattfindet. Weitere Editionen 2026 finden in Weimar (Mai), Düsseldorf (Juni) statt.
Für seine künstlerische und gesellschaftliche Arbeit wird Kian Jazdi am 3.6.2026 mit dem TONALi Award „Mut zur Utopie“ (25.000 €) ausgezeichnet.

In der Saison 2025/26 freut er sich auf die Zusammenarbeit mit dem Regisseur Aram Tafreshian in der Elbphilharmonie im Projekt Lost & Found, auf Kompositionen für die Produktion NO BODY am THALIA Theater mit einer Regiearbeit von Mable Preach, die Produktion Pulcinella am Theater Altenburg Gera mit einer Choreografie und Regiearbeit von Arshak Ghalumyan sowie die Durchführung der Konzerte der isaCommunity beim Liedstadt Festival mit TONALi in Hamburg und am Wiener Konzerthaus. Darüber hinaus nimmt er eine Lehrtigkeit im Fach "partizipatives Komponieren" an der HFMT Hamburg auf und er wird u.a. beim tuned-Netzwerktreffen für zeitgenössische Klassik, bei TAOME, beim DMR und beim FUCTOPLASMA Festival als Speaker zu hören sein.

2026 wurde er in die Jury des Elbkulturfonds des Behörde für Kultur und Medien Hamburg berufen.
Seit 2024 ist er Mitglied des Fachbeirats des Netzwerk Junge Ohren, der Jury des Projektfonds Kultur & Schule in Hamburg und des Kuratoriums des asambura ensemble.
Er unterrichtet Leading & Guiding im Master Contemporary Arts Practice an der mdw in Wien und ist dort künstlerischer Leiter der international summer academy Community.

Kian Jazdi studierte Schulmusik mit Gesang und Chorleitung und Mathematik. Seine musikalische Prägung ist klassisch, verbunden mit der Arbeit an analogen Synthesizern. Ebenso beeinflusst Musik aus dem Iran, die sein Vater im Elternhaus hörte, seinen Musikstil sowie die Auswahl der Projekte.

Er arbeitete für die Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, die Wiener Staatsoper, die Volksoper Wien, das Konzerthaus am Gendarmenmarkt Berlin, das Wiener Konzerthaus, das Staatsballett Hamburg John Neumeier, das Deutsche Schauspielhaus Hamburg, das THALIA Theater, den Heidelberger Frühling, die Hugo-Wolf-Akademie, die Dresdner Philharmonie, Kampnagel Hamburg, das Ensemble Resonanz, das Badische Staatstheater Karlsruhe uvm.

Kian Jazdi is a musician and cultural manager based in Hamburg.

 He specializes in connecting professional and non-professional artists in interdisciplinary projects, realizing these through large-scale stage productions. Together with Julian Prégardien, he is also artistic co-director and co-founder of the Liedstadt Festival, which will take place in Hamburg for the second time in autumn 2026 for 14 days. Further editions in 2026 will be held in Weimar (May) and Düsseldorf (June).
In recognition of his artistic and social work, Kian Jazdi will be awarded the TONALi Award "Mut zur Utopie" ("Courage for Utopia", €25,000) on 3 June 2026.

In the 2025/26 season, he looks forward to collaborating with director Aram Tafreshian at the Elbphilharmonie in the project Lost & Found, to composing for the production NO BODY at the THALIA Theater directed by Mable Preach, the production Pulcinella at Theater Altenburg Gera with choreography and direction by Arshak Ghalumyan, and to leading the isaCommunity concerts at the Liedstadt Festival with TONALi in Hamburg and at the Wiener Konzerthaus. In addition, he is taking up a teaching position in "participatory composing" at the HFMT Hamburg, and will be appearing as a speaker at, among others, the tuned network meeting for contemporary classical music, at TAOME, DMR, and the FUCTOPLASMA Festival.

In 2026 he was appointed to the jury of the Elbkulturfonds of the Hamburg Senate Department for Culture and Media. Since 2024 he has been a member of the advisory board of the Netzwerk Junge Ohren, the jury of the Projektfonds Kultur & Schule in Hamburg, and the board of trustees of the asambura ensemble. 

He teaches Leading & Guiding in the Master of Contemporary Arts Practice programme at the mdw in Vienna, where he is also artistic director of the international summer academy Community.

Kian Jazdi studied music education with a focus on voice and choral conducting, as well as mathematics. His musical background is classical, intertwined with work on analogue synthesizers. He is equally influenced by music from Iran, which his father played at home, both in his musical style and in his choice of projects.
